Health and safety in the workplace is an important part of business. It is important to know your legal responsibilities and requirements, and to remain up-to-date with your knowledge. Across businesses, the cost of poor health and safety can be hugely impactful, not only when it comes to the direct and indirect costs relating to accidents and incidents, but the wider impact to people’s lives.
This is an excellent introduction to health and safety in the workplace and will benefit all employees. The course aims to support businesses, equipping individuals and teams with the skills and knowledge to contribute to positive health and safety behaviours, and a positive workplace health and safety culture.

During this course learners will be equipped with the knowledge on health and safety in the workplace.
The course is ideal as an introductory course and can form part of an employee’s induction process.

Understand the importance of health, safety and welfare in the workplace
Understand the hazards and risks and how they are controlled in the workplace
Be aware of the main causes and effects of poor health and safety at work
Understand how health and safety information is communicated in the workplace

On successful completion, all learners will receive an FAA Level 1 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (RQF) / Level 4 Award in Health and Safety in the Workplace (SCQF).
FAA are an awarding organisation regulated by Ofqual and SQA Accreditation and the qualification sits on the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF).

The qualification is an introduction to health and safety in the workplace and can form part of an employee’s induction programme.

Learners must be aged 14 years or over, and it is recommended that learners hold a minimum of level 1 in literacy (or equivalent) to undertake this qualification.

This course is delivered remotely over 1 day, via video conferencing software. Or it can be delivered onsite on request. The total qualification time is 5 hours, allowing for periods of self-study as required. Our approved, quality-assured trainers will be available for the full duration of the course.
Training will be delivered via a variety of resources including webinars, presentations, group activities and tasks.

Assessment is conducted through a written assessment. There is no grading of the assessment, learners pass or are referred. Through distance learning the qualification is assessed via professional discussion with the trainer through video conferencing software.

The qualification does not have an expiry date but it is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training.
