Champion a positive workplace culture around mental health

Approximately 1 in 4 people in the UK will experience a mental health condition and at least 1 in 6 employees experience common mental health problems in the workplace such as anxiety and depression.

The Health and Safety Executive recently reported that during 2023/24 stress, depression or anxiety accounted for 46% of all workrelated illnesses.

With this in mind, their recent revision to the First Aid at Work: The Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 Guidance note L74 has been updated to emphasise the need for employers to take account of employee’s mental health as part of their first aid needs assessment.
